Resin Bonded Surfacing Project for MediaCityUK, Manchester

We are currently in the process of providing resin bonded surfacing at MediaCityUK, a waterside property development in Salford and Trafford, Greater Manchester, principally occupied by media organisations and the University of Salford.

We are contracted to complete a 2 phase operation to convert disused car parking facilities located within the MediaCity UK TV studio complex into a recreational area with outdoor eating and drinking facilities. For phase 1 of the project, which we recently completed, we were required to lay 3500m² of resin bonded surfacing, incorporating 2 colours:

• 1-3mm Silver Grey Granite
• Orange aggregate

Silver Grey Granite provides the main base colour for the resin bonded surfaces, whilst orange aggregate provide large splashes of contrasting colour. Resin bonded surfacing provides the appearance of loose gravel, but without the required maintenance and slip hazards.

For phase 2 of the project, we will be providing resin bonded surfacing for a pathway that
will run alongside an astro-turf area between studios and production facilities where a wide range of programmes for BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky are filmed and produced. It is likely that many stars of British television will walk this pathway once it is completed.

We are proud to be the main exterior surface contractor for MediaCityUK. Resin bound and bonded gravel surfacing systems can be applied to most surfaces in a relatively short period, minimising any disruption to our clients, and making Midlands Decorative Surfaces an ideal choice to provide decorative surfaces for MediaCityUK and other busy property developments. Resin bonded surfaces are also an aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly surfacing that are practically maintenance free.
