In recent years, resin bound surfacing systems have grown to be one of the most popular choices for driveways at both residential and commercial properties.
Block paved, concrete and gravel surfaced driveways remain popular, but when you consider the advantages of choosing a resin bound driveway, it makes perfect sense why resin bound driveways are quickly growing in favour. In some cases, resin bound systems can also be combined with traditional block paving to create a highly aesthetically pleasing effect.
We recently completed a residential resin bound project at a home in Solihull. We installed a resin bound driveway using a 5mm mocha stone mix, with traditional block paving edging the perimeters of the driveway. The result was a driveway that considerably improved the curb appeal of the property, helping to make a great first impression for anyone visiting the house.
When you consider the many advantages of choosing a resin bound driveway, the growing popularity makes perfect sense.
It’s highly durable
Resin bound driveways are highly durable, with an expected lifespan of up to 15 years or more in most cases. Unlike other driveway surfaces, resin bound systems are resistant to all weather conditions, all year round. Resin bound surfaces will not soften in the summer, freeze at winter or fade as a result of sunlight.
It’s permeable and prevents standing water
In recent years, people have become increasingly aware of flooding and flood prevention. Resin bound systems are highly permeable, allowing water to seep through the surface, preventing puddles and standing water as a result.
It requires very little maintenance
Whilst resin bound driveways provide a gravel aesthetic, there is no need for daily raking and sweeping to ensure that the aggregate stays neat and tidy. The resin bound mix stays where it is installed and doesn’t require much maintenance to keep it looking as good as new – a regular brush and an occasional power wash keep resin bound drives looking great.
It looks fantastic
Resin bound systems are very versatile when it comes to aesthetics. A wide range of different aggregates can be used to create decorative effects of the customers choosing. Whilst some customers may prefer a driveway in a single colour, others may wish for a mix of coloured aggregates for a more striking look. Different aggregates can even be used to form more complex patterns or designs.
