Coventry University Starts the New Academic Year with Resin Bound Systems

Located in central England, Coventry University is a public research university, previously known as Lanchester Polytechnic up until 1987. With more than 21,690 current students and 120 undergraduate courses to choose from, it has been placed 13th in The Guardian University League Tables for 2019.

Our team recently completed work on behalf of Coventry University to revamp their campus exterior with our 18mm resin bound system in a chocolate mix. This new surface will provide an attractive, hardwearing and low maintenance ground, which is particularly important when operating a campus with heavy footfall for students, staff and visitors.

What is a Resin Bound System?

A Resin Bound pathway will provide an anti-slip surface for students hurrying to their next lecture, with the appearance of loose stone for a natural finish. The process is a two part scatter system where the resin is spread either onto tarmac or concrete and then gravel is scattered as a top layer. Once it is all cured, the excess gravel will be swept away for a smooth result.

Resin Bound Systems are also suitable for driveways and patios, as they are quick and easy to install and less expensive that alternative systems. Both resin bound and resin bonded surfaces are hardwearing, low maintenance result that will keep your property looking tidy throughout the years, with an anticipated life expectancy of 8-15 years.

How Will This Benefit the University?

With a high volume of students running through the campus 24 hours a day, every day, with late night library trips, fast exchanges between classes and general socialising, you need a strong and durable surface. By strong we mean something that can handle the heavy, daily footfall and still look presentable.

If you’re looking into Resin Bound surfaces, here are the key benefits that Coventry University will also gain:

  • Low maintenance exterior meaning lower costs
  • Presentable exterior throughout all the seasons
  • Decorative natural appearance
  • Wide choice of finishes to choose from
  • A hard wearing and resilient surface
  • A Fixed, anti-slip surface for safety
  • Can be applied to a number of surfaces
